Something Old, Something New, Something Borrowed, Something Blue
Today is my 4 year anniversary with my hubby …
So I was inspired to do a wedding post to show a few nail art ideas for that special day….
I’m sure you know what’s coming first, that “something old”, aka a classic French Manicure….
When it come to wedding nails a nice French manicure is the simple, classic and easy way to go. It’s not one of those trends that you’ll look back at 20 years later and think “what was I thinking!” it’s simply a timeless look. And yes this is what I wore on my wedding day (pink and white acrylics to boot!).

Next up is “something new”…
Nothing tops a good holo, afterall who doesn’t want rainbows on their wedding day?! Obviously holo polish isn’t your traditional choice for wedding nails, if you’re a fashionista and you’re having an outdoor wedding this would be perfect!
I used Layla Mercury Twilight(2 coats) over Essie No Place Like Chrome(1 coat).
Then there’s “something borrowed”…
Now if you’ve ever looked up “wedding nails” I’m sure you’ve come across [this]* image and thought it was so pretty. I decided to recreate this look and make it simple enough for anyone to do themselves.
First paint a sheer pale pink base color. I chose China Glaze Innocence (3 coats). Then apply a quick dry topcoat.
Wait at least an hour for the polish to fully set before moving to the next step…
Once your polish is completely dry take 2 pieces of tape. Apply one to the top half of the nail and the other to the bottom half of the nail, leaving a thin strip in the center of the nail. Press down firmly on the tape to make sure it’s fully adhered. Then apply a thin layer of gold polish(or silver depending on the color of your ring). Once you’ve applied the color gently peel off the tape. You can apply topcoat to smooth out the edges of the “ring”
I used Essie Good as Gold.
Finish the look with a rhinestone..
Since you want to make sure your “diamond” lasts all day, apply a small drop of nail glue then apply your rhinestone.
Last is “something blue”…
For this look you’ll need a pale/light blue…
I’m using Sephora by OPI Havana Dreams (3 coats)
Next dab a chunky silver glitter onto the cuticle area, making sure to stay in the upper half of the nail.
I used Sally Girl Glitzy.
To blend and fade the glitter add microfine glitter on top using short, light strokes. Be sure to stop at the halfway point of the nail. Topcoat and you’re done!
I used Pure Ice Beware.
