NYC Fashion Queen Crystal Couture Collection

Following up to yesterday’s NYC Fashion Queen Collection, today I have swatches of the Crystal Couture glitters.
Rule the City has a charcoal/ slate grey metallic microglitter base with ultra fine red glitter mix throughout. The formula is easy to apply and you get an even mixture of red glitter on each nail without it being over packed in certain spots. It has full opaque coverage with two coats. It’s an interesting color combo that I wouldn’t have thought would work but it does.
Fashion Queen is the matching sister to Crown Gold, it has a base of orange gold microglitter and ultra fine gold glitter mixed throughout. Much like Crown Gold this photographed more orange than it actually is IRL, while the base is on the orange side it’s not this orange, but rather more golden.
Queen’s Jewels has various shades of ultra fine green glitter mixed in a vibrant grass green jelly base. It’s not as sparkly as I thought it would be, that jelly base layers over the glitter making it slightly dull looking, yet it is shiny due to the base. Two coats gives you full coverage but depending on how white your free edge is you may have slight VNL. This is also a possible stainer, I accidently got it in the cuticle area of my pinky (which was unprotected by a base) and no matter how much I scrubbed it wouldn’t come off. So you’ll want to do a double or triple base coat just to be sure you avoid staining.
Blue Majesty has various shades of blue glitter mixed in a vibrant cobalt blue jelly base. This has the same finish as Queen’s Jewels, shiny but not sparkly and two coats to full coverage.
Ruby Queen has red ultra fine and purple fine glitter mixed in a candy apple red jelly base. This one is a bit more sparkly than the last two, even though the red glitter gets lost on the jelly base the purple glitter doesn’t seems to be affected by it. To me, this is like Valentine’s in a bottle, it’s red, purple and sparkly! What more could you want!?
NY Princess has various shades of fine purple glitter, and blue ultra fine glitter mixed in a bright grape jelly base. This has the same finish and formula as Queen’s Jewels and Blue Majesty, two coats gives you full coverage.
Overall: This is a really vibrant and pretty glitter collection. The formula was easy to work with and the glitter built up nicely after two coats, no dabbing required as you get an even coating of glitter with each coat. If you want to make the jellies more sparkly you could do a final layer using a sponge, this would deposit glitter only while the base would show through from the previous coat(s).
Price: This collection is available now and retails for $1.99 at drugstores.
I HAD to get these as well!! I even went to two different HEB’s (Local Texas Grocery store). I picked up the blue green purple and gray glitters, LOVE me some packed glitter.
Your pictures look flawless, do you have a tutorial on how you get the best pictures of just fingers??
I don’t =( I have a Nikon 1 J3 camera, I use the creative setting and use the daylight “filter” with aperture priority. I take my pics fairly close up and then crop so just my nails are in the frame. Hope that helped =)
You can’t beat these wonderful jelly/glitters for $1.99. I might grab one or two today.
Fab swatches! Not sure the polishes are for me though – too much glitter!
Oh that blue! THAT BLUE! 🙂
I knew you would like it! lol
These are really pretty. NY Princess is my favorite!!
These polishes are so pretty, I love fashion queen!
I’ve never seen a NYC special collection here! man, I would love to get Rule The City! What a fun glitter. Great swatches.
I think the collections only go to places like Walgreens, CVS and Rite Aid. I never see new collections at Target or Walmart.
Oh how I love me some glitt-ah!
Beautiful! I’m really loving Queen’s Jewels!
